Why is it that, as human beings, we find our bodily functions embarrassing?
If we fart or burp in public, we are looked at in disgust, even if it was only an accident.
Some of us [myself included] even have trouble pooping in a public restroom out of the fear that the smell of our feces will cause others to think poorly of us.

Fear of the dark also known as Nyctophobia is common among young children who often fear that something catastrophic may happen to them in the night.
