How to get though college with ADHD?

So I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid and still have it as an adult. I cannot take medication for it changes my mood and causes anxiety. I am 19 now and have been wanting to go to college. I would like some helpful tips and how others with ADHD got through it. I am really happy in the situation I am in even though it sucks. I have a hard time feeling stressed, I never do. I don’t think I can go to college because I cannot concentrate. Any tips?

Check out the Disability Services at your college. Public colleges have to have them, and private ones probably do too. If you have documentation from a professional regarding your learning disability, you can get accommodations like a private room for tests and extra time to take them. Also, they may have advisors who are trained to help you. Sit towards the front in classrooms – especially big lecture halls, if you sit towards the back it’s really easy to space out. When you study, make an outline or list of what you need to get done, and take breaks frequently. For me, I have to take a short break after about a half an hour of studying – it’s inconvenient, but it’s better than forcing myself to study when it’s counterproductive.
