Why can’t I eat in public?

I’m a 20 year old male, I’m not obese, far from it I weigh just about 120lbs and I’m 5′ 7″. I’ve had a problem for a few years now that just kind of showed up sophomore year of high school. One day I couldn’t eat in the cafeteria, even though I was starving on the walk there. Every time I try to eat in public or around people I don’t know I just feel full and if I try to eat I feel like I’ll be sick. As soon as I get home I can eat normally. I haven’t been out to eat in a very long time. I was thinking it is some sort of social anxiety? I’m not on any medications and I haven’t seen a doctor about it, but I probably should.
