Anxiety Attack Symptoms In Men

Is this a man menopause?
Am I going through mental disorder? I am 50 year old man, lost my job two years ago and now a full time father. Six months ago it happened first time when my 14 year old son was ill. I was perhaps stressed. In the midnight, the pain around neck travelled to brain and settled to the right side. A pricking kind of sensation. It lasted for an hour. Next day too the same happened. Then I was going through some anxiety attacks and was becoming too emotional and insecure and always had a feeling that anytime I can die and life is meaningless. Some times too much confusion in brain, some wieard memories come out and I felt too depressed. Sometimes feel I will go mad soon in life. It all the time happened in the night time. Doctors said nothing to worry. I thought a scan could help. But they said not required. I don’t drink, don’t smoke. I am confused with my life. Or is it man menopause symptoms? I am having normal sex life too. I am trying to control the symtoms but still confised. Pls help
Decreasing testosterone levels may be responsible for some of your symptoms. This is a very general article on male hypogonadism http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/male-hypogonadism/DS00300
Is there such a thing as “male menopause”? http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/male-menopause/MC00058
Most men’s testosterone production begins to slowly decline after age 40. Some men have very low testosterone without symptoms; some have only slightly low testosterone and have multiple symptoms. You may be one of the latter.
Your situation is complicated by the stressors in your life, which can also certainly contribute to your symptoms. The neck and head pain you described may be related to muscle tension, as your brain has no pain sensors and cannot feel discomfort. This article http://www.round-earth.com/HeadPainIntro.html shows some common sites for head and neck pain and what causes them.
Anxiety can cause bizarre symptoms as your mind feels trapped and begins racing around; you even begin thinking about death as an escape from the anxiety. Panic attacks typically include thoughts of imminent death.
If your physicians have ruled out organic causes for your symptoms, you may want to talk to a psychologist or psychiatrist about treating your anxiety.
