Anxiety Attack Symptoms In Teenagers
How can you bring up anxiety with your Doctor?

I have been very anxious for the last few years year or so about everything! I have been more self concious and shy, more paranoid, and anxious about my health. For a while I thought I was a hypochondriac, but now I think it may be Generalized Anxiety Disorder. I freak out about random things, and always imagine the bad things that ca happen in situations. I also have panic attacks, but not too many. Probably around 1 a week.

So I want to ask my doctor about these symptoms, but I don’t know how. I go to a pedeatrician, because I am still a teenager, if that changes things.

Hi, it is indeed good to speak with you as I also have suffered much from Panic attacks and anxiety which affects literally all aspects of your and my life.
I need not speak and tell you that which you know from the experiences.
Most Dr’s are well aware of Panic and anxiety difficulties, as it is most common. You are one of the brave, ..and to be commended for asking for help.
You are not going crazy, you have an over reactive nervous system which as thoughts enter your mind, it triggers the sensations. And they are awful as well as de-debilitating on a social level.
Write down what you are enduring , feeling in a note book and give it to the Doctor as it is a nervy thing to go , and may I add a brave thing to achieve. You will be surprised how much better you feel for sharing it with your Dr. He /she may place you on anti-anxiety meds for a time.

Also keep a good mind on your breathing and exercise, it really helps. As well, learn as much as you can about anxiety and Panic attacks as the more you know the less you fear them, as the fear of a panic attack can bring one on. Quickly change your thinking, or distract yourself with TV Music or see another person and tell them what is happening. 50% of the population have had them, or know of someone who has, so , you need not feel alone at the time.

Also contact www.beyondblue.org.au an excellent Site. Give it a good look through. Or contact me if you get stuck in the home. ccspratt@bigpond.com or www.kidshelp.com.au from ages 8 to 25yrs

I know you will find help, also look at any real underlying events that have caused it , you aren’t to blame.lol Colleen
