I get anxiety attacks at night after coming home from social situations. I don’t understand it because I use to work at a bar and go out all the time. Now I feel like I don’t want to go out at night because I know I will have an anxiety attack. My doc tried to put me on Zoloft but I’m not going to take it. I’ve tried xanax but it doesn’t work. My attacks will last for a good hour. I’m going to see a therapist.

Any advice?
Anyone else have experience with this?

I used to get anxiety all the time. I was like you I was very social all my life, then out of know where I would get attacks. I’ve seen a therapist for over a year, and that helps a lot. I also take a homeopathic for depression, anxiety, and my sensitivity level. That has really been helping me.
I have had anxiety problems for many years and xanax works for me…When I first started having problems I did not want to take medication and I suffered severely for almost a year before I was able to be back to normal..
The next time I started having the symptoms, I said no way would I go through that again when medication will help . If you need medication to help you get through it, then you definitely should because it doesn’t last forever but it is rough sailing..take care…
i have thsi too but i take paxil .. it works ok I guess but i still wonder when next attack will be
I suffer from really bad anxiety attacks almost everyday… well used to, its getting better now. I would advise you not to take any medications for your problem, It does help some people, but alot of the time they will just make you feel worse. There are good ways of dealing with it as anxiety is fueled by adrenaline. Relaxation techniques (deep breathing, tensing each muscle one by one then relaxing them), destraction method (play a game, listen to music, find something to do that you really have to concentrate on) Also do you have alot of caffine? I cut off caffine about 3 months ago and have never felt better then i do now. Also alot of alcohol wont help either as its a depressant and alot of anxiety problems are caused by depression. Also do you have alot of excersize in the day?! if not you should get more as it uses up the adrenaline and if you have very little adrenaline you wont get as bad a anxiety attack or maybe none at all.
Hope this helps you. (Dont stop going out, even if its just up the shops, i stopped going out as much and ended up agoraphobic. Just take it step by step)
