Anxiety Bp
Has anxiety ever affected your blood pressure?

mine earlier was 183/95 then i took it again and it was 150/87 all within 2 -3 minutes sometimes when i’m relaxed or sittig down it is normal. if your answer is yes did starting anxiety meds help it go back to normal? By the way i am 30 and never had bp problems but i do have anxiety.

Anxiety can affect many physiological processes, because it can bring on the “fight or flight” response, where your body prepares itself to either run away from or fight a danger.

Essentially, yes, it can affect your blood pressure.

Anxiety meds will usually help it go back to normal, however, some do cause your blood pressure to go up. It depends on which medication. If you’re taking on that’s designed to work on acute anxiety (i.e. anxiety or panic attack), they will usually bring your blood pressure back down. If you’re taking something like an anti-depressant for long-term treatment, some (ex. Zoloft) will cause your blood pressure to go up slightly.

You may want to consider some form of therapy along with medication. Studies show that therapy and medication tend to work better than medication alone. And that way, you learn techniques to control your anxiety if you eventually decide to go off the medication.
