Anxiety Checker
Very scared of dying while giving birth…?

I know it doesn’t happen often, but I can’t get my mind off it. I have heart palpitations and I’ve had them as long as I can remember. I really can’t imagine being in all that pain and pushing for so long and it not bothering my heart at all. I don’t have any heart disease or anything that I know of, but I’m a “pulse checker.” I have panic attacks/anxiety attacks and I’m just very worried about it… How can I NOT worry so much about it? I know I probably sound really stupid, I’ve just always been a huge hypochondriac. I’m only 21 weeks, 4 days. :/

I’ve always been the same with the heart palpitations, and I also have had panic and anxiety attacks… I’ve had four babies, and was perfectly fine. (I even have a heart murmur and hypoglycemia.)

You don’t sound stupid, but you do need to try to relax… As your baby grows, and takes up more room, it will get harder to breathe (usually happens for most women), and that is when I had panic attacks; it was scary… I’m just giving you a heads-up, BUT they lessened, with each kid, as I learned how to handle it. (A combination of sometimes slow, deep breaths, and quick, shallow breaths; whichever worked, at the time.)

You’ll get through it! But, you do need to relax… Remind yourself that women everywhere, since the dawn of time, have given birth, and we have it much easier than women of old (Pain meds, help if something goes wrong, prenatal care, etc.)… Good luck!

Anxiety – What are you stressing about?
