Anxiety Cool Kids
How should I tell her to cool it a bit?

It’s been a back and forth rel., but I think I finally have a handle on it. There’s no Q we really care a lot about each other. But lately, she seems all frantic. She did this before and it broke us up (started to work a lot, always has to be occupied w/ something) but we are back and better than ever, and now I think I know why she’s like that. She mentioned once after a couple too many cocktails how much she wants to have kids. Bingo. Tick, tock goes the clock, I guess. I am working towards a future with her, including kids someday, but I’m not there yet. I’ve got about a year left of school and I will be starting a fortunate job this summer w/ my dad, but it’s going to take some more time. How can I get her to relax? She seems to prefer burning herself out rather than allow any anxiety about the future creep in, but a chronicly tired gf is not a very fun gf, you know?

If you love her enough to imagine her as the mother of your children and your future wife, then I think that it’s easy to sort things out.
If you feel it like this, just let her know how you think about your relationship and your common future. tell her that you want to be with her for the rest of your life, but she has to take things slowly and give you some time.
I think that when she understands that YOU DO LOVE HER and you DO WANT TO SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH HER she will cool down.

Otherwise, if you just see her as you present gf, and no strings attached, then ask her to give you more space and tell her that you want to live your life moment after moment and that you aren’t in a hurry of having children, getting married etc.

The best way is to make things clear to her, whatever your view on things is.
Talk about how SHE feels and about how YOU feel!

If you don’t look towards the future in the same direction, then it’s useless forcing yourself to things you do not want to do.

Otherwise… good luck!
