Anxiety Disorder Symptoms In Children
Dose anyone with a disability have the same reaction from people my sister has?

My sister has a bipolar disorder and sometimes she has psychosis. She also has anxiety and depression. A lot of people in the family tell her she is a lazy 32 year old. They told her,( and they honestly believe) she makes up all her symptoms. She has a social anxiety disorder and she has a hard time warming up to people. It drives me crazy because I feel like I am the only real family she has. She lost her children to the state for not being able to do well enough with them. She refused meds and would not see a therapist. I think she refused so much because so much of the family told her doctors dope you up with meds so they can have more money. My step mother is the most hateful of the bunch. She told my sister she
would have gotten her children back if she loved them enough to keep a job.
Dose anyone have the answers to how I can help her help herself???

Your sister is very lucky to have YOU!
but she needs more; she needs to find a support group in your area. Call the local mental health department and ask them if they have one she can join.
We live in a brand new era from even 10 years ago…we have medications that work soooo much better that “doping” you up like they did 30 years ago. Your relatives are living in the past…and have not learned to recognize that the brain is part of the body subject to illness, just like some people get diabetes…..your sister got a brain illness. It is not something she can will away. Her med refusal is likely also do to the fact older medications probably had lousy side effects. And now, it hurts so much to recognize she lost her children that it is better to blame the meds than her self. Your step mother is a beetch! I would tell her “if you loved my sister enough, you would have a decent family! but instead you are a tormenting unloving cold person.” and let her think about THAT.
