Hi there,
First of all I would like you to know that you are not alone, and that there are many other people out there who are experiencing the same types of symptoms that you are. Prozac has a long list of commonly reported side effects, of which a few would most likely cause the feelings you are describing. Here is a list of the side effects caused by Prozac that I feel are relevant to your case:
1. Anxiety.
2. Nervousness
3. Abnormal Dreams
There are also side effects of Prozac that are considered more serious:
1. Anxiety, agitation or panic attacks.
2. Restlessness or inability to sit still (Maybe why you are complaining of feeling “weird”).
There is also a medical problem associated with Prozac called Serotonin syndrome, which can cause the following symptoms:
1. Confusion or other mental changes
2. Hallucinations
3. Agitation
I don’t know where your symptoms fall within these listed, but it does sound like you are having some side effects to your medication. Did these problems begin AFTER you began taking Prozac? If you began experiencing these symptoms AFTER you started taking Prozac, or you noticed them getting progressively worse once you began taking Prozac then the chances are pretty good that you are experiencing side effects from your medication. I would recommend contacting your doctor IMMEDIATELY to inform him of your symptoms and allow him to decide whether your medication should be adjusted or not.
I took Prozac for awhile after I was diagnosed with severe clinical depression and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder with related Severe Anxiety, and I noticed an increase in dream activity and other symptoms about 8 hours after I began taking it. I contacted my doctor and adjusted my medication levels and everything evened out. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, but I would contact your doctor as soon as possible. I hope this advice helps.
