anyone have any tips for picking out a hopital and ob to have my baby?

I had a horrible experience 6 years ago when I delivered my daughter. This time around I really want to make sure I like my ob and that the maternity ward is good. my insurance wont cover a midwife and home birth so unfortunately Im stuck with the fear and anxiety of the same things that happened last time. no freedom. anyone have any ideas for me?

Ask friends and family. Even if they haven’t had a baby recently but just really like their OB, getting the right doctor is a good start. Once you have an OB, they are usually affiliated with a hospital, so that is where you would have to deliver. Then you have the option of touring the maternity ward. That way, you could get a good feel and see if its some place you would be comfortable delivering your baby. Another thing, is usually your OB has other doctors that would deliver your baby if he/she wasn’t available or around when its time for you to have your baby and you usually have the option of having a couple appointments with them, so you get to know them just in case.
