Anxiety Issues

Anxiety – Read More About It
Anxiety is another way of describing worry. Some people worry at a manageable level while others worry to the point where they become unable to function. It is normal for everyone to worry at some point. But if your life is consumed by concerns, you may have an anxiety disorder.
Anxiety can cause physical symptoms such as headaches, sleeplessness, and nausea. It can also develop into a disorder that can make it difficult to enjoy the ins and outs of every day life. There are a variety of different types of anxiety disorders which include but are not limited to generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, OCD, phobias, and PTSD. Anxiety can be managed but extreme anxiety and anxiety disorders will require treatment.
You can ask yourself some questions to determine if you may have an anxiety disorder. Do you feel that you worry extensively or excessively about a lot of different things? Do you feel that you are losing control or going crazy? Do you get a shortness of breath, heart palpitations or shaky feelings, even if you are at rest? Do you avoid doing certain things like going to parties or driving in the car because you feel like you may have a panic attack? Do you not want to leave your house? Do you feel a sense of obsessiveness when it comes to certain behaviors? Have there been any events from your past that make you upset, nervous or uneasy on a regular basis? If the answer was yes to any number of these questions, you may have anxiety issues.
Some people just have anxiety in certain situations like when they are about to speak in public. According to the book of lists, the fear of speaking in public is the #1 fear of all fears. Many, many people have fear or anxiety dealing with speaking in front of large groups of people. If you are someone who has this fear you may experience all kinds of symptoms: Sweaty palms, accelerated heart rate, memory loss and even difficulty in breathing. It is not strange to fear public speaking. In fact, you’d be surprised at how many public figures and even actors have trouble getting in front of a group. Delivering an acceptance speech for an Oscar may be harder than getting the Oscar in the first place.
Even if you are an experienced speaker, you probably have some bit of anxiety before getting up in front of a group to deliver a presentation. Mark Twain even said that if you weren’t nervous, you were lying. If you have anxiety for speaking, the best way to deal with it is to start by first acknowledging that this fear is normal and you are not alone. To reduce your fear, you need to make sure you properly and thoroughly prepare yourself before you speak. Proper preparation and rehearsal can help to reduce this fear by about 75%. Proper breathing techniques can further reduce this fear by another 15%. Your mental state accounts for the remaining 10%.
