Anxiety Lyrics Black Eyed Peas
Could paranoia be a symptom of anxiety?

I’m in the tenth grade, and I take a psychology class at my high school. For one assignment we have to choose a mental illness and then pick a song that has lyrics that are relevant (relative?) to that mental illness. I chose anxiety as my mental illness, and for my song I chose Anxiety by the Black Eyed Peas. In the song, he’s talking about paranoia consuming him. We have to analyze the lyrics and write about how they relate to the mental illness we have chosen. I can’t find anywhere that paranoia is a symptom or a part of anxiety. I don’t want to use the song if I can’t relate it to anxiety =P Does anyone know if it is or not?

I have had anxiety disorder most of my life and i assure you that paranoia is a part of it. The things that a person with anxiety are paranoid about are usually things that other people aren’t paranoid about. For instance, if a person has social anxiety, they are paranoid that when they are in large crowds, they are going to be embarrassed, hurt, or talked about. If a person is alone with anxiety, they are paranoid that they are going to die, that someone will break into their home and hurt them. So, in my opinion, anxiety can come from fear of a threat that does or does not necessarily exist. anxiety on an airplane is usually paranoia that the plane may crash, etc. hope this helps, good luck

As the title suggests, Elephunk borrows from every single element of funk known to man and (with the exception of the one straight-out rock & roll track, “Anxiety”) tries to cram them all into…
