Prozac question…does it cause weight gain & help anxiety?

Hi all, I was just switched from Paxil to Prozac because I’m pregnant and prozac is safer. I had gained 30 pounds over the last 6 years on Paxil and I’m hoping prozac won’t have this same effect. I work out with a trainer 4 times a week and have a fairly good diet, but I can’t seem to drop much body fat while on paxil.
Anyone have experience with Prozac and did it cause weight gain?
Also, I know prozac is an anti depressant and wondering if it will be as effective at treating anxiety as paxil was. Paxil was wonderful for my anxiety but the side effects of weight gain and night sweats were so difficult!

Well… lucky you, that’s all I have to say (despite general misconceptions, for people who can’t put on weight, it’s agonizing seeing and hearing from other’s who always complain that they can’t put any off).

My sis was on Prozac and she gained some weight, and it looked really good (I think!). The “newer” meds make you loose too much weight (if you start at “normal”) and it becomes a struggle to eat shit…

Try to resist each and every “hunger” signal your brain sents (it may be just the sugar addiction). If you do feel desperatly hungry, eat something really healthy (low density, high in water content, vitamins, minerals etc.) like tomatoes, an apple, an orange (or even a banana, which is pure starch!! => super energy!) etc. It will get you so full, and a lot of energy, it’s unbelievable!
