Dogs Nightmares causing stress and anxiety?

Our dog has been acting odd for the past couple of months. Normally an Alpha dog, she has an episode or two a day where she becomes intensely frightened, shakes, hides behind the toilet or in a closet. We are monitoring her for potential physicial issues like seizures or pancreatic issues. However, we noticed the patter is occuring when she wakes up suddenly from a nap. Could she be having severe nightmares and/or sleep walking? Has anyone else had a similar issue with their pet?

Pets are not affected by nightmares or sleeping. They are and their nightmares are however affected by their daily lives! I don’t really know how to say this but my friend had that problem with her animals, they always acted scared. They always acted hurt and sick. This is just her, I’m not saying for sure: Her house was really weird if you know what I mean. Some people believe in things like this and some don’t. In her house, doors would open that were locked, cabinets would close on their own, the tv would turn on on its own, and one night I had an experience. I always hated her house and always felt eerie in there. I wouldn’t go anywhere alone without her by me. I asked her to go to the bathroom with me. There may be something that your pet senses. I don’t mean to scare you and maybe she’s just needing more attention but I would check that out. Believe me I didn’t believe it until I felt it and saw it for myself. I don’t know your situation but my friend actually had to move and now her dog is great!!!
