Anxiety Nos Criteria

What Is An Adhd Anxiety Disorder?
ADHD is often a condition involving the balance between neurotransmitters in the brain, specifically norepinephrine and dopamine. When too much norepinephrine is present irritability and anxiety are present. This fact alone would support the hypothesis that similar problems to ADHD such as anxiety disorders truly have a biological link to one another. To greater realize the similarities between ADHD and anxiety disorders first let’s briefly go over what it means to have an anxiety disorder.
When an individual is experiencing an anxiety disorder they have a significant, persistence fear of worry that constantly occupies their mind and is almost impossible to control.
Multiple types of anxiety disorders exist, but for our purposes let’s cover the three most common with overlapping symptoms to ADHD.
* Social phobia: Social phobia is also known as social anxiety disorder and is characterized by significant anxiety induced by exposure to certain social or performance situations, often resulting in aversion.
* Specific phobia: A specific phobia is an irrational fear of specific objects or situations. Examples would be fear of heights, flying, or spiders.
* Generalized anxiety disorder: Generalized anxiety disorder is closely linked to a number of mental health disorders including ADHD. It is defined as excessive, typically daily, nervousness and worry lasting 6 months or longer about a variety of activities or events. Examples would be anxiety over appointments or tasks, job performance, finances, and relationships.
For individuals struggling with anxiety linked conditions they often experience ADHD like symptoms for instance excessive talking, impulsivity, hyperactivity, restlessness, diminished ability to concentrate, and absentmindedness. Also, if you have an anxiety disorder, you may perhaps also expertise irritability, sleep irregularities, and fatigue, just to name several.
For a symptomatic point of view it may be difficult to tell the difference between an anxiety disorder and ADHD on any given day. The difference is that most anxiety disorders (with the exception of generalized anxiety disorder) come and go. When the anxiety trigger disappears the condition disappears, whereas with ADHD the symptoms remain fairly constant.
In summary, sometimes there is fine line in diagnostic criteria that requires a skilled professional to evaluate. This has never been more the case as with ADHD and anxiety disorders. In fact, in certain cases where attention deficit hyperactivity has an anxiety component a dual diagnosis could be rendered.
