Anxiety Nursing Diagnosis
Is there a good herbal remedy for insomnia for nursing mother.?

My wifes Doctor already prescribed ambien and it doesn’t work for her all the time. Tylenol PM works occasionally, we OK’ed that with the Doctor. The Doctor is suggesting Zoloft because the problem seems anxiety related. I’d prefer something less radical. The pediatrician suggested Melatonin. I am also considering Kava, and Valerian. St. John’s Wort appears to be to strong. I know nothing would probably be best for the baby, but it won’t be to good either if the wife finally passes out while giving the baby a bath or something simular like driving. Like the pediatrician said it’s a benefits verses risk situation. I believe I found the most accurate diagnosis in a book which described the situation and labeled it caretakers insominia. Personal experience or reasonably well informed answers preferred.

I like melatonin. GNC has a formula that is 1 mg. and it is a cherry pill that you put under your tongue and it dissolves. I would of course make sure this is ok with your doctor first since you are breastfeeding.
