Anxiety Physical Pain

Is it possible to be in physical pain with anxiety?
My anxiety has been rising constantly these past few months. These past couple of days I have felt awful and to top it all I have had a really bad pain in my right side under my ribs. I have felt really sick and have been able to sit up or lie down in a comfortable position. I just wondered if it could be related to my anxiety or more likely to be anything else.
I have been trying to use mindfulness techniques and breathing exercises to reduce my anxiety but without success.
I suffer from PTSD – complex trauma, chronic grief, chronic depression, anxiety and anhedonia. I feel really alone and wish I could just curl up and die right now. I know I have to find a way through all this as I could never put my family through that sort of heartache.

Hi there is no need to apologise.Yes it is possible to be in physical pain with anxiety.Because the mind and body are inseparably linked.Negative thoughts you have affect how you feel in your body and could be manifested in aches and pains.And a tightening sensation in the muscles if the stress is particularly bad.Continue your deep breathing exercises and combine them with relaxation techniques [ tensing and relaxing all the major muscle groups in the body,and then let go and release the pent up tension.In a counselling relationship you can learn these skills.And you can be refered through your doctor.They sometimes give you a tape,when you first start to practice to help you get used to the different feelings,of tension and relaxation.You learn to identify the tension in specific parts of the body and relax in response to this tightness of the muscles.There is also a term called physiology these are physical sensations that you have in the body which are caused by thoughts you have in your mind.Such as worrying thoughts,which can lead to feelings of sickness.I would think that the pain In your ribs may be caused by you hyperventilating.Where your breathing has been rapid and shallow for too long.Hope this is helpful Take care Richard.
