Anxiety Separation In Babies

How can I wean my baby that has separation anxiety?
my son is 10 months old. I need to wean him due to health issues, but he’s not ready. He has separation anxiety really bad. He wakes through the night to make sure I’m still there. He cries whenever I sit him down and to keep him from nursing at night is HORRIBLE! He cries for hours on end. He doesn’t have to nurse through the day, but sometimes he pulls at my shirt until I give in. I’m not sure what to do. He’s not ready and I’m not sure that I am either, but I know I have to. What can I do? Oh, btw I tried the vinegar on the nipples thing, and that didn’t bother him one bit.
I have epilespy, i need meds for seizures! He eats pleanty of table food, and I nurse him when he wants but sometimes he just wants the comfort not the food! I have put off weaning him for 6 months. I need the meds to help.
Btw, I do give breastmilk in a cup through the day, he just doesn’t nurse. The doctor says there is no studies to say that the meds will or will not effect him.
He can still nurse, the majority of anticonvulsants are safe for nursing babies. The only one that isn’t is Zarontin (Ethosuximide), and even that could be taken safely with some careful scheduling.
Nursing babies do nurse through the day and breastmilk is still his main source of nutrition until 12 months. It’s also normal to nurse at night still. If he isn’t ready and you aren’t either, there’s no reason to stop. Even medications, most are safe the ones that aren’t have alternatives.
