Anxiety Symptoms In Menopause
Has anyone been prescribed propranolol for symptoms of stopping hormone replacement therapy after menopause?

After many years of HRT my GP said it was time to stop (I am 70) I am in good health no hypertension or other heart related problems. But hot flushes, sleep issues, mood instability, brain fog and a feeling of being overwhelmed are persisting – four months since quitting HRT.
From what I read about propranolol it seems like overkill for my symptoms. She was very enthusiastic about its effects so I filled the prescription and have been on it for three days but am having second thoughts.
I take no other prescribed medication but do take a multivitamin plus calcium, fish oil, and St John’s Wort.
No history of clinical anxiety just sleep issues.
Any suggestion?

Sorry but that’s like taking a sledge hammer to kill a mouse. Its a Beta Blocker .I take a different one for heart problems. They do calm everything down so they might stop the hot flushes, but I am still on HRT after 25 years ( I am 62) and in warm weather can still get hot flushes. I take Cardacor and have awful trouble with sleeping and restlessness’s it is one of the side effects. i would persist for a while, but why on earth did she make you stop. HRT is good for your bones and Honor Blackman at 80 is still on it and refuses to stop. If the new med is no good insist on your HRT.
