Anxiety Temper

Is there any medication I can take to get rid of my temper?
I’ve ALWAYS had a temper, and at one point, it was thought that maybe my temper was due to my anxiety disorder. However, I now take Prozac for both depression and anxiety, and though I now feel much less anxious and depressed, I still have a temper. And unfortunately, it has negatively affected my relations with others. Is there any medication that I can take in conjunction with Prozac to curb my temper?
Medication will only cause you more problems.
When you take medication for a temper, ect-you shield yourself from experiencing them. This is actually a bad thing.
Consider in your everyday life now, a moderate inconvenience like waiting in line for a few moments. It’s a little irritating, but you’ll manage. You, like the rest of us, are used to this happening.
Now, imagine you were royalty. Waiting in line is unheard of, but one day, you find yourself having to do so. You have no tolerance to waiting in line, and you become extremely angry.
I walk to work-rain, snow, ect-doesn’t matter, I find a way to get there. In this, I find that they no longer appear to me to be as irritating as they once were. I built up a tolerance to them.
Now, I cannot stress enough the understanding of tolerance building and addiction to convenience-two opposed systems.
By not having a car and hence built a tolerance to adverse weather, I am not addicted to the convenience of having one. Basically, walking in the rain or snow doesn’t bother me as much as it would bother most people. I’m used to it.
Now, this entire thing shows that like having conveniences that shield us to the unpleasantness of life, medication for your temper would be counter-productive in the long run, as you’ll find it harder and harder to deal with the minor inconveniences that would then seem like apocalyptic signs due to having little or no tolerance of them.
The human mind doesn’t need a concoction of drugs to make it work “right”.
Essentially,
MANY of your problems stem not from any disorder in your mind, but from society itself, and your reactions to them-which are largely justified.
The problem is, we go out looking to put people back into some pattern of socially acceptable behavior. In doing so, we deny the individualism necessary, all the while we demolish our tolerance to every day life, creating a cycle of dependence on drugs-legal or otherwise.
I think many of your issues can be found and understood with Sociology and Psychology, not Psychiatry.
Best of luck,
Travis Anderson
