Panic Disorder: Anxiety Therapy For Panic Attacks

It can happen out of the blue. You will probably not even realize that it is on its way. While seemingly calm and cool you suddenly feel the impact of a racing heart. You start sweating and feel your hands start to shake. You are most likely having a panic attack.

A panic attack is an overwhelming fear that takes place without any known onset. Once thought to be a sign of stress or frazzled nerves they are now recognized as a real medical issue. You may have one and then never have one again or they could become recurring, which poses problems for their sufferers. Panic attack victims suffer from very real physical reactions in their body.

Most Powerful Technique For Eliminating Anxiety And Panic Attacks

The cause of a panic attack is unknown. The medical profession feels that stress, changes in the brain, and/or genetics may be the culprit for them. If a family member has a history of panic attacks then this would predispose you to the likelihood of also becoming a victim. When your body undergoes a threat your body will instinctively respond to this threat with your fight/flight response. During this type of bodily response it is only natural to have the symptoms that go along with it. These symptoms are the same during a panic attack.

The symptoms of a panic attack are frightening. It is a feeling that impending doom is lurking nearby. The symptoms of a panic attack are quite numerous. A person suffering a panic attack may suffer from all of the symptoms or just one. Even one symptom, however, is quite an exhausting experience. The most common symptoms of a panic attack are shortness of breath, chills, rapid heart rate, shaking, hot flashes, headache, a feeling of dizziness, chest pain, fainting, difficulty swallowing, sweating, nausea or a “butterfly” in your stomach reaction, a feeling that your throat is closing up, hyperventilating, a feeling of impending doom, and/or stomach cramps.

Anxiety therapy for panic attacks typically involves therapy and the use of medications. The medication can reduce your anxiety thereby heading the panic attacks off before they even start. There are some people though that would rather not follow this typical course of treatment and prefer a non-medicated regimen along with anxiety therapy at home.

Most Powerful Technique For Eliminating Anxiety And Panic Attacks

Self-treatment of panic attacks may be possible in some cases. Some self-help measures that can be done at home involve keeping yourself free of stress, which is very difficult. We all have some sort of stress in our lives, but concentrating on remaining stress free is sometimes possible.

As part of your at-home anxiety therapy you might:

Keep a diary of your thoughts and feelings. Trust your thoughts and feelings to someone close to you. By sharing these thoughts and feelings with someone else you are relieving yourself of this burden by “getting it off your chest” and opening up yourself to helpful ideas from someone else. Other aspects of your anxiety therapy might focus on ways to directly relieve your body from tension. This might include daily physical exercise, such as walking. You might also try relaxing in a warm bath, having other outlets and hobbies, such as reading, and/or practicing yoga or meditation. Some people find a great source of comfort and anxiety therapy relief in practicing their faith.

There are millions of people that suffer from panic attacks each year and some on a routine basis. By involving yourself in good mental health practices you can relieve yourself from panic attacks and further progress in your anxiety therapy.
