Are there empirically validated treatments or best practices for generalized anxiety disorder ?

I’m sure there are others here who will give you similar advice, but being a sufferer of this as well as being Bi-Polar1 I can tell you there is very good help out there, but unfortunately, as of now, there is no ‘cure’, only control and educating yourself. I personally have had good results with Xanax, but everyone knows, as with all benzodiazepines, there is the risk of addiction. But all medicines have their side effect. You have to ask yourself is the cure worse than the disease? Do not ‘self medicate’. Talk with a professional.
