Worried about reading aloud in a writing workshop?
I have a tendency to cry when I read aloud in public if the subject matter is even mildly emotional or sad. This has happened to me in a few of my college classes already and embarrasses me. (I am currently in therapy and on medication for a combination of anxiety and depression.)
Next week I have a workshop class of a creative nonfiction essay I wrote that is very personal to me and I am worried about having to read it aloud. I plan to talk to the professor about it, but I feel like I will come across as a crazy person. I don’t know what to do…?
You will not come across as a crazy person. At this stage of your life you have a very real problem. Speak to your professor, explain the situation and I am sure that he will be understanding.
