Any advice for surviving a holiday with my phobias?

I am meant to go on holiday for a weekend at the coast with my family in a month… for them a holiday, for me: absolute hell. I have a major fear of vomiting which has lead to phobias of car travel and agoraphobia. I am increasingly stressed And depressed- the last thing I need is a holiday. I can’t tell my family about this; I don’t know how they’ll react and it’ll ruin it for them. What should I do?

    Get anti sickness medication.

Get a sea band. They use it on chemo patients so… it works.

Which of your parents is the easiest for you to talk to? Tell that parent of your fears.

Have that parent take you to a therapist specializing in phobias.

Phobias are among the problems MOST curable. A professional can help you.

If you really can’t talk to either parent, then talk to your school counselor, or any other adult you trust.

Maybe this isn’t the appropriate time, but you DO need to tell your family about this.

This is quite a common phobia, and the easiest thing you can do to help yourself is to tell others so that you have support. Another place you can get support is the emetophobia society forum at

There is also a great product called the emetophobia recovery system that you should look into. There is a review of it at
