What is the best anxiety medication for me to take before surgery.?

I have a HUGE fear of anesthesia and needles (I’ll have seizures) and I’m pretty sure the doctor will prescribe Valium to calm me down before my upcoming surgery. Honestly, I want to be blacked out before the car ride there, and not remember anything until the day after the surgery. Does anyone else have this much anxiety? Ive taken zanax before, and still had a seizure after getting a shot. Any suggestions?
