Magnum Opus asked:
If someone has social anxiety disorder and also AD(H)D, and would normally fidget and move around constantly while alone, could their fear of being criticised for their movements while in the prescence of others cause them to remain still or ‘paralysed’?

Defiantly not! I have ADD and social anxiety. I don’t stop moving…ever. Even in public where people look at me funny for fidgeting all the time. It just makes me worse because then i get nervous and feel the need to fidget more. It becomes terribly annoying to my mum and people i am around regulary.
NO! I have ADHD, adn when i get nervous i cant stop fidgeting and when people around me notice it, and say something about it, it gets even worse
It certainly could.
ADHD is not a distinct disorder, some people can have it worse than others, and some can have tendencies, etc. In other words, it’s dimensional.
social anxiety is the same thing.
So it’s just a question of which is stronger and how that person reacts when nervous. Some people shut down, others get restless and fidgety.
You don’t have to assume that people with ADHD are categorically different than normal people, it’s only a difference of degree.
