College Anxiety Disorder
A couple questions concerning social anxiety disorder?

i know that i have social anxiety disorder so that’s not the question. i have done some research on it and am thinking about talking to my doctor about being prescribed Zoloft to help. i’m wondering if anyone has taken Zoloft for anxiety and how effective it was? also i’m wondering if i’m going to have to start seeing a therapist? i’m a college student who doesn’t live close to home so seeing a therapist may be a bit of a problem

Medications affect different people differently. Personally, I don’t think Zoloft worked for me, however I don’t have social anxiety disorder so I don’t know how it helps with that. I took it for panic disorder a few years ago. All it did was amplify my symptoms. I became twice as jittery and anxious than I already was. After about a month of taking it, I quit cold turkey (even though they told me not to) and felt like a million bucks. I have not had panic disorder since. Who knows, it may work for you, but I’ve heard that the best treatment for social anxiety disorder is therapy.
