Do you think people are born with phobias or they only gain them as they grow through experience?

I was think about my own personal phobias and trying to figure out the cause for them one day. I never had a specific experience from my memory that would’ve caused it so maybe I was born with it. Is it possible. Even though it’s not that severe it’s pretty cool to think about.

i think it depends on what it is. If you have a serious phobia you might be able grow through it but i think it might result in some kind of habit.
I remember hearing that when you are born the only fears you have are of falling and loud noises. The rest you pick up as you get older.
It is hard to say. I have a phobia of snakes, not because I had a bad experience but because my mother is petrified of them. She saw a snake when I was younger while we were swimming, she swam to shore and was out before I could even blink.
Since that day I have an aversion to snakes, to the point of when I see one I will start to sweat, I can’t breathe and I am afraid it will bite me (no matter what kind it really is).
I wasn’t born with that phobia but have managed to carry it into adulthood. I think phobias develop at a young age, perhaps our mind blocks us from remembering, a defense mechanism we all have, that may prevent us from associating the occurrence however it leaves a lasting memory in the form of a phobia.
They are of three kinds. One is inherited. Second one is acquired with great efforts and the third one is imposed forcefully (either by self or by others).
You’re never born with a phobia.Phobias are ALWAYS caused by an expierence, trauma, incident,or whatever.
u cant be born with phobias if it cant remember a specific experience thats because its an evolutionary behavior. for examples with spiders…most people like me are just scared of them because they a creepy and tiny and ewwww. Some people its snakes others its foil or milk who knows. Its something that is common throught the evolution of human beings most peopl have always been scared of spiders, snakes whatever.
there are a few things that might look like phobias, but aren’t.evident within abut a month. Most mammals for instance, won’t try to walk over an edge. it is dangerous. Evan if there is clear class, or Plexiglas, they don’t judge by feeling the surface they can touch, but by how far away the ground looks. these are instincts, and i think they go away over time, and with experience.
but what we call phobias develop and get worse over time.
