Does anyone else have panic attacks like this?

I’ve had panic attacks for 10 years and they’ve always been the same (depersonalization followed by panic). But now the symptoms have changed. I get extremely dizzy, like vertigo, and start toppling over, and have to hold onto things to stop myself from falling.

Is this a panic attack or something else? I can’t understand why my symptoms should suddenly change after so long.

It’s both a panic attack, and yes symptoms can change over time and worsen which is what it sounds like. i get those too.

Hi, ive had severe anxiety for over 20 years and dizziness has been one of my main problems, i even get them when sitting or lying down, have you had your eyes checked? i did and needed glasses but i do still get the dizziness but not so much. Plus you will prob find that as you get used to one panic all of a sudden another new one can come on and then we start all over again, panic does come on suddenly for no reason at all well with me it does, i take 25mg amatryptaline and i do have 2mg of diazepam but try not to take those so often, i wish you well but do try to accept these changes of panic and you will get stronger and know the signs, good luck x

It always helps to get a blood test to check to see if everything is working properly. So see your doc. for your own peace of mind.
I have had terrible panic attacks. Your heart races, vision goes blurry, hands get sweaty, breathing gets difficult, etc. Yes, I have found myself in stores so consumed by a panic attack that I had to hold on to things feeling like I will pass out. When your body goes into what is called “the fight or flight mode’, you can feel like your going crazy since your adrenaline is out of control. There must be something bothering you that is causing you to panic. I know when I worry allot these attacks come on just out of the blue. Talking to a counselor may help . I am sorry that you are going through this. When you feel a panic attack coming on try breathing through your nose slowly for 2 seconds, mentally counting one, one thousand, two , one- thousand, then exhale through your mouth to a mental count of four-seconds-again by one-thousands. Do this for at least 60 -seconds. I have a cd that calms your breathing. It really does help. I know what you are going through & hope that you will have less panic attacks in the future. If this gets out of control there are allot of programs that help. The program that I followed is called Attacking Anxiety & Depression by Lucinda Bassett. It is a little pricey. In the long run it is worth it. When I start feeling these attacks coming on , I always get the program out & start over.If you want to look into this program the website is. There are less expensive programs if you don’t feel comfortable with investing in this particular program. Hope you have less panic attacks in the future. Good luck!
