Exercise Anxiety Study

Best ways to help anxiety?
I have an anxiety disorder. I have anti depressants and I have been to one psychologist appointment so far. I want to get it under control before I start my study again as this was an issue with my anxiety. Besides medications does anyone think exercise and cutting down on caffeine actually helps? I have heard that but I don’t know.
It’s great that you’ve sought out professional help when truly needed. One important thing to note is that treatment for anxiety is best when you use medication and pair it with psychotherapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is most widely used to treat anxiety based disorders. CBT can help you to identify triggers to your stress as well as change your thought process and to develop new thoughts and behaviors.
Some quick tips to help alleviate your stress — Engage in activities that you enjoy and are calming. Go for a walk, pop in a c.d., or do something creative. Surround yourself with positive people. Don’t let other people’s negativity or worries increase your stress level. You have enough on your plate. And yes, exercise as well as a balanced diet will help. Physical activity helps to bump up the production of your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins.
If you need additional tips or just need someone to talk with, give us a ring at the Boys Town National Hotline. We have counselors available 24/7 to chat.
