Dude you are 100% accurate, i have the exact same problems, i take lexapro everyday, it helps, but it doesnt completely stop it. I still have panic attacks, maybe once a month. I cant take any narcotics bacause of my previous drug use, ive abused pills pretty heavily in the past to deal with my anxiety and also just partying and having a good time. but just wanted to tell you that the drinking for me, made it worse.

i do ok when i drink, but usually end up freaking out more if i get too drunk, and yeah when i first wake up i usually feel pretty good, unless of course i know that i have to do something that day that causes my anxiety/panic attacks. i have been on 4 mg of atavan for the past couple weeks and it works, but then i feel stoned and want to sleep…i guess that is better than a panic attack. im trying to quit smoking and im going to try an work out because everyone says that will help out alot.

@snakedude338 Very true! Funny thing is that no one does understand it, but those who go through it. I went through this as well…for 2 straight months, I could not leave my house. I was really, really loosing it!! But I built the courage to go and the psychiatrist which recomended Zoloft (50mg) and short after, I started feeling like my self. It changed me. I was someone else for those 2 months. Less eating, doing nothing but watching t.v. I couldnt even beat my meat! :-( It was coocoo.

i know exactly how you feel ..i think.. I am 18 and about to graduate high school, and i am convinced there is something wrong with me. when what i think are my panic attacks occur i feel like i am losing control and become extremely terrified that there is something wrong phyiscally with me. Drinking DOES suppress the “anxiety” but only makes it worse the next day. and in the morning i feel fine as well. but this BS is crippling my life

@Cubicle0 this is what I dislike about the pro weed crowd. Young people are smoking this drug unaware that it could have negative side effects that could take a long time to recover from. I’ve heard of people who were once outgoing, confident but after smoking weed for a while ended up withdrawing from society because of anxiety/social anxiety caused by the psychoactive effects of weed etc.

If I miss my Lexapro I get dizzy I go into withdrawals. I get dizzy and sweaty and achey and feverish feeling. It’s horrible.

Xanax will kill that shit right quick. Don’t know about long term, probably not recommended. Your airplane explanation was spot on. You look like the athletic type. I heard lotta folks are depressed cuz they don’t get enough exercise. I know i used to have way less anxiety when i was working out. You look pretty stocky, hit up them weights.

i used to take Lexapro. When i stopped, i started to notice how asshole my roommate was. Wish the shit didn’t take 6weeks to get started though.

man u seem exactley like me :/ , Not many understand it which makes it worse especially when ur with mates , I found drinking helped in the short run but in effect made it a little worse but hey thats just me , also found i would never have this anxiety for 1-2 hours after waking up , But your not the only one , will be back to normal soon just takes some time to overcome , good luck !

Do you also get palpitations? I hate that!
Read up on alcohol, not like you haven’t already… It is funny because it can relax you, but then make you wake up at night. I only drink beer for the most part, and even with that I find I can get anxiety the next day if I had too much. This is not really uncommon. I’m glad you have found a medication that works!

  • zapatista3 said:

You’re not alone Matt! i had a panic attack one day so bad I ran out of the exam room at the doctor’s!

  • fullmetalfunk said:

I take Lexapro 20mg for depression and Clonazepam .5mg for anxiety daily but if I’m having an anxiety attack then I will take up to 1 to 2 more Clonazepams. You’re description was brilliant. You’re on a plane you know will crash and everyone is calm. They just can’t see things through your eyes. It sucks but I get by. I hope you can get by too.

You are not alone man. I have bad anxiety myself, I’ve suffered with it since I was about 5 or 6 and I’m going on 21 now. I don’t drink because I have emetophobia which is the fear of throwing up so I KNOW if I drink that will happen so i can say anything about the drinking. I think your medicine would probably work better if you didn’t drink but I understand that if it helps you want to do it.
