Fear Of Mascots
Am I allowed to use a company’s mascot in my art project?

I’m supposd to draw a project for school of a part of myself and something I’m afraid of…

So from the lack of other original ideas: The Burger King (mascot) is one of my worst fears. He TERRIFIES me. I thought it’d be funny to use him in my project… and I know it’s just an art project and I assume I can’t really get in trouble for drawing him… But am I not allowed for some copyright reason?

If this is just for a school project and is NOT intended to profit you financially, you should not have any problem.

If you intend for it to make some kind of profit for you – even if it is just winning a prize in a school contest – you may want to be absolutely safe and write to the Burger King HQ and ask permission to use the likeness. Usually, for schools, they will have no problem giving permission with the stipulation that you include words like ” Used with permission of Burger King ( TM )”.
