The dizziness is definitely a side effect of some sort. Whether it is helping your anxiety is something you subjectively have to discern. Do you feel less anxious? Then, yes, it is helping. Gabapentin has a very short half-life, and thus requires constant redosing to maintain a constant level in your blood stream.

Dizziness is a common side effect of Gabapentin — and you could actually be allergic to the medication. Sometimes the reaction is delayed.

I would certainly consult with your doctor who prescribed the medication as soon as possible about your side effects and see what he/she suggests. They might change the dosage, schedule, or medication all together.
