Gerd Anxiety
I am 67 year old female, have asthma, hypertension, GERD and anxiety, lately feel like a vibrator in my chest.?

and suddenly it goes out. Almost it occurs when in bed and has awaken me 3 times in the night for several nights. Then, I feel my heart beating slowly.During the day I feel palpitations. I have had an echo cardiogram and 24 hour holster both being normal. Do someone
have had a similar experience?

Your doctor suspects that the rhythm of your heart might be going in and out of an abnormal phase. A Holter portable EKG monitor, usually worn for 24 hours, will pick these rhythm problems up, but only if if it happens to occur during that 24 hour period. If you did experience your “vibrator” during that time and your cardiologist saw nothing abnormal when he reviewed the 24 hour “tape”, then probably your heart is not experiencing a classic rythm disfunction. But if it was a cardiologist who ordered the Holter monitor, be careful. My own experience in dealing with 5 different cardiologists is that, once they decide you have a heart problem, they consider their job to be finished , and perhaps will not even suggest to you that your condition is being caused by something other a heart problem that you should see a different specialist about.

One more thing, there is a testing device that can be put in place just like the Holter, but instead of recording everything for just 24 hours, it stays off until you begin to experience your problem — THEN, you know you’ve got something worth recording and there is a button you can press to start recording your ekg from then until the problem seems to go away. You can do this over a longer period, say a week, to make sure that you actually “catch” your heart in the act. Ask your doctor about it. Good luck to you.
