Have you ever had a panic attack or anxiety attacks before?

I’ve had a lot of “almost” panic/anxiety attacks, but never the real thing, my breath would shorten and my heart would race realy quick over the slightest thing I’m worried about. And I would get this nervous feeling like I’m not in control anymore.I used to be really calm, so idk what’s happening.

but have you ever had the real thing before and what does it feel like?

    Yes, And it’s not a good feeling when you think your going to die..
    You need to see a doctor. Get some counseling if nessesary.

    This has been happening to me recently. I don’t even know why; sometimes I’m not even stressed or panicked. I only experienced one panic attack. It kind of felt like I was sinking underwater or something and my face went really hot. And then I lost consciousness, and I don’t even know why; I wasn’t stressed or anxious.

    I would like to know other people’s experiences too.

    It’s awful and you feel like you are dying and it can last for hours.

    it felt like i couldnt breathe and like my heart was beating really fast. I felt like crying but i really didn’t know what was going on. My palms got sweaty and i had to go outside and sit down. Try yoga and relaxing more, stress can really be detrimental to your health.

    I think breathing irregularity and vision blur are big hints, but people say it feels like a heart attack so your chest may close (or feel like its closing). Also, you just go into attack mode, as in your self defense kicks in and your adrenaline rushes and you feel like you are being crushed and need to defend yourself. this all happens very quickly, it feels like impending doom, but fortunately peaks within the first few seconds to minutes.

    Yep, I have panic disorder. I experience numb hands, shortness of breath, a “smothered” feeling or feeling of entrapment, palpitations, and sometimes nausea.

    i would be laying in bed thinking as i was falling asleep, and then i would think about something that was really worrying me. i would be wide awake and have to walk around to slow my heart. idk if this is a panic attack, but i was in a panic and it just came on with no warning.

    I don’t anymore but when I was little i would get little ones over things. I would wake up fro a nap (this was when i was like 6) and I would like run around the house and be scared i was gonna get hit by a meteor or something and it was really weird. My dad would be like WHAT and i would just curl up in a ball till I cooled off. My friend had one he got all shivery and he said he was really cold. Looking back on it I thought it was funny but it wasn’t back then!

    Here is a good site explaining the differences between them. I had an anxiety attack once when i wanted to end a relationship. My heart was racing, i had shortness of breath, and it felt like i had to get up and walk around because i couldn’t sit still.

    It sounds like u did have a real panic attack. I had them, and it kept me in my house for 10 yrs. i was considered agoraphobic. I use to feel like i could not control the anxiety, the panic, the fear of losing control, people would tell me just stay and fight it, but they had no idea, sometimes i would feel like i was gonna poop on myself, it was awful. I am now on Zoloft, and doing great, i haven’t had one for about 4 yrs. please see your doctor.

    Yes i have. Luckly it was only a mild attack. It felt as if my chest was about to colapse and i couldn’t regulate my breathing. I sounded as if i was gasping for air and i got very light headed. It was very scary, but i had to lay flat on the floor and take long, calm breaths while holding a damp, cold washcloth on my head. I was fine after half an hour or so. But my mother had one so bad once that she passed out and blacked out. It was rather scary.

    Yeah. One day I was reading my book, then wham!! I couldn’t breathe because every time I drew a breath my chest hurt. I managed to crawl to where I could get help, then I collapsed in pain. It hurt so bad that I was rushed to the emergency where I received a shot of cc1 on my sit upon. After that, I felt fine, except for the pain in the *** from the needle

    Yes many years ago i just had my baby and i remember i went shopping,i had put on a bit off weight and at this time low self esteem..
    All i keep thinking people are staring at me and i felt ill,tense and not in control i just wanted to get out as quick as i could..I dont know where it came from had no early warning,signs or triggers except i remember low self esteem and weight gain..I remember i was frightened and upset by the attack as it felt like my heart was pulsating through my chest..Here is a great link..

    yes i have. what i did was i didn’t drink a lot of coffee. took yoga and relaxation classes. and got my doctor to prescribe one month of lorazepam 1 mg once a day

    The Symptoms:
    - hyperventilation
    - dizzyness
    - uncontrollable fear
    - a pounding heartbeat (feels like your chest will explode)
    - numbness in the extremities
    - a feeling like you’re dying

    The physical symptoms coupled with the irrational anxiety is what makes a panic attack so traumatic. Most sufferers truly believe that they’re dying.

    There are 2 programs out there that are famous for treating Panic Attacks and Anxiety successfully.
    They are: Panic Away and The Linden Method.

    You may wonder, “Which one is better?” Don’t worry, you’re not the only one with that question.

    The Panic Away program is more appropriate for people who can cope with their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well.
    Linden Method is more for those who aren’t really good in coping their Panic Attacks or Anxiety well.

    My spouse suffers with these from time to time and it scares me too. I was just doing some research on this and it seems there may well be a cure.

    Up until now all I was finding was coping techniques, and they seemed to be only dealing with the symptoms and not the actual cause.
