How can I get over my fear of inserting contact lenses?

Peachy Keen asked:

I wear glasses but do not like how they look on my face. I got a prescription for contact lenses put could not put them in during my visit with the eye doctor. I tried really hard, but could not work up the nerve to stick them in my eye. I tried for like an hour. I was embarrassed :-)

How do I get over my fear of inserting contact lenses? I have a fear of even putting eye drops in!

Or, should i give up my quest of wearing contacts and just stick with glasses?

Here’s what I would do, get some saline eye drops from the Dr. and every morning put a few drops into each eye. The more you do it the easier it’ll become, then once you can put in the drops without any problem, then I’d try the contacts, at the Dr. office. I would use the two hand method to keep from blinking. Once they are in you really should notice them at all.

    Good luck

Don’t worry, it takes a while to get used to the first few times you put it in.

For me, it took around 2 hours to put my contacts in for the first time.

After you keep practicing a few times, you get more comfortable doing it until eventually you can put it in instantly.

Everyone had trouble putting in contacts at first. Don’t worry about it.
