your more likely to die on the way to the airport then on a plane
chances of being in an airplane crash are much less then a car crash. hope that doesn’t make it worse. but the chances of being in an airplane crash are very small.
don’t know how you could get over it, bring something on to preoccupy yourself and just don’t think about it too much. anxiety usually comes on when people over-think on a subject.
What do you want us to tell you? I don’t think any reassuring comments will make you go “Oh, that makes sense, I was being so stupid”. You are more likely to die in a car crash than an airplane crash but I presume that’s not too much comfort. I think the only thing you can do is fly, maybe a short practice flight if you have the money to spare for such a thing. Also, try to get a friend, a good one whose arm you can squeeze and who will know when to push you to keep going and when to let you give up and leave.
There’s no quick fix, you’ll have to build up your courage slowly, try and wrestle your mind into a more peaceful place and eventually *gulp* face your fear; there’s no way to cure yourself BEFORE you get on the plane, only afterwards.
I suppose there is the option of hypno-therapy but I can’t recommend anyone and I don’t know if there are any hacks out there, find one with a money-back guarantee if you’re willing to pay the price.
Good Luck
Well, you can’t get thrown out. It’s impossible to even open the doors, so that’s not a real worry. Your fear is irrational, and not based on facts. Plane travel is the safest way to get anywhere, and you should be more afraid of taking your car. Of course, telling you this won’t help you much. What you need to do is to find ways of changing your mind about aircraft. Probably the best way would be to take flying lessons. Many people feel out of control in a jet, since someone else is doing the driving. If you knew more about how a plane flies and knew something about doing it yourself, you might feel better. The bookstore has books on overcoming your fears, and books that answer your questions like “ask the pilot.” They also have classes and even psychologists that can help you if you need more than that. There are resources available, depending on how much you are able to spend on this.
The best thing you can do is to become a christian, if you aren’t already. Then, you will know that if something happens and you die in a plane crash, (or anywhere else for that matter), you will be in heaven and nothing else will matter to you. That is the best advise i can give you. Good luck and God bless.
you are more likely to get struck by lightening 4 times in two weeks then die in an airplane.
The best thing is to eat bubble gum wile you fly
I had to do it too because i was scared of airplanes
Airplane crashes dosen’t happen allways. You should think that nothing is going to happen!!!!
Wish you have then a great vacation!!!!!!!
Its refreshing to see that someone that actually say they’re scared of crashing, rather than scared of flying.
Your fear is irrational, but you know this.
You will have to learn to be more rational, in whatever way suits you best.
Im sure other bad things have happened to other people you know, do you refuse to engage in those acitivites too?
For example, if someone you know died in a car wreck, would you cease to drive?
Probably not, because you know the odds of the same thing happening to you are not great.
Its the same rationale.
Relax. you can’t enjoy your life if you’re a worry-wart. First, people do not get shot on airplanes or get thrown from them. It simply doesn’t happen except in the movies. Second, while statistics may not be able to calm your fears, you have a you have a 1 in 11 million chance of being in an airline accident (less than your chance of being struck by lightning) while you have 1 in 78 chance of being killed in a car accident sometime during your life. There are over 30,000 people killed on U.S. highways every single year, which is the equivalent of a Boeing 737 full of people crashing every other day. It doesn’t happen. You need to worry about the car trip to and from the airport, not the flight. Airline crews are among the most highly trained and skilled professionals in the world, and receive more recurrent training, evaluation, and testing than any other profession bar none, including surgeons. Even if you’re flying in a private plane, you still only have about a 1 in 800,000 chance of being in a accident, and the vast majority of the small plane crashes that do occur are survivable. Sorry about your classmate. That was extremely bad luck. I graduated with about 400 people in my class. So far, 26 have been killed in auto accidents, 11 have died of cancer, and two were killed in a war. None have been in plane crashes.
