How can I stop my blood phobia getting worse?

Emily Rugburn asked:

I used not have any problem seeing my own blood when I got a little cut, but lately it’s becoming a problem. Even a tiny scrape and a few drops of blood makes me feel nauseous, dizzy and panicked. How can I stop this before it turns into a full-on phobia?

Well blood is just a red substance that comes from the skin. Its nothing to be worried about. think about it as red paint or something :-)

Anyway are you a woman? Its very difficult if a woman has a phobia of blood because periods and all!

So dont worry. this is just a stage.

Blood phobia is a weird phobia, first of all becuase it’s the only phobia that’s biologically based and not environmentally caused (Sorry buddy… it’s genetic), second of all, becuase its the only one that has real physical reactions to it. Light headedness, headaches, nausea, and fainting are all classic symptoms of blood phobia. I dont think I have ever known a person to be cured of blood phobia but talk to a councelor about it.
