I’m afraid of thunder and lightning and when I start working this is going to be a problem. We’ve been having thunderstorms here quite fequently and theyre pretty intense and when I start working I dont want to call in sick because theres a thunderstorm outside. How do I get rid of this fear?

Firstly you have to understand proper safety. If you live anywhere near Boston, take a trip to the science museum and watch the lightning show. The people who operate it dispel alot of myths about lightning. Next time it storms, sit by the window wrapped up in a blanket and try to enjoy it. Storms are really pretty! Think happy thoughts and stay inside or in a metal car, and you should be safe!

Well, normally a psychiatrist would tell you to embrace and experience the fear by actually putting yourself into situations where you have to touch spiders, go outside, pet a dog, etc…

but that brings to mind the scene in Caddyshack with the priest and the golf club so I guess considering the kind of fear it is, you’re just going to have to learn to deal…?

Live in Florida or the tornado belt for awhile! You’ll get over real fast!
