face your fear. Go out in a thunderstorm holding a lightning rod over your head

learn about them, and when one comes to your city, go look at a live radar like the one at wunderground.com. Remember lightning isn’t going to hurt you unless your outside, doing something that you shouldn’t be doing during a thunderstorm.

turn on some pump up music… (ACDC) and if you have any balls at all get a baseball bat find a field hold it up in the air and sprint… if you come out alive your fear will be gone. I did this but the difference was i was completely drunk.

You really just have to ‘bite the bullet’, with that i mean you just have to overcome it, and go and sit there, without anything, no radio, no TV, no sh!t or anything. Hardcore, with nothing, maybe someone there, but its better with no one there. I dont suggest trying this at night, because if you have a really ‘deep’ fear of thunder than that would be really scary, just do it during the day- maybe with someone. Best of luck.

I always tell my kids that God is playing a game of bowling and that everytime he gets a strike it makes light come down from the sky…..Or that God is rearanging his furniture. Don’t know if that helps you out but just try to think of it that way!!!

I am right there with you!!! I have been terrified my whole life of storms.

All I can say is that it has been better for me the last 8 years or so (I’m in my 20s) and I now only get nervous when there’s a big storm, which is a lot better than the hiding and foetal position techniques I used when I was younger!

One of my dogs is really scared of thunderstorms also. What I do is turn up the radio extra loud and that seems to help.

I am thinking that this just might be one of those things that as you grow older it will become less scary.

Well, the main step to overcoming this fear would be to go back to the beginning, see what the fear stemmed from (maybe a past event in your life?). Then know what you really fear, is it the over flooding waters or the lights, or possibly the loud bangs here and there. The last step would be to educate yourself about thunderstorms, we fear what we truly do not know. So, do some research find out about what causes the lights and sounds and why thunderstorms occur. Lastly, know that if you are somewhere like your house for example you are completely safe from the storm and it can do nothing to you.

Be patient with yourself. If you have a fear, so what? Focus on other things and deal with the thunderstorms when they come. Maybe someday, the fear will be less. Until then, live a good life!

what i do is i watch my all time favorite TV show. it gets me focused on that and the storm will pass faster!
