“Mom, Dad, I’ve been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder.”
How about this. “Mom, Dad….. I have generalized anxiety disorder.”
Be sure that you are well educated on your disorder so that when you say “Ma. Dad. I have been diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder” you will be able to answer any questions that they might have. Also, include them in your treatment plans.
It’s not a big deal. I have had anxiety since i was 18. Funny thing, mine was caused by my parents!!!! (divorce)
Just tell them. They just want you to be happy and healthy!
Maybe print out some basic info on GAD from the Internet and use that when you talk to them: “Mom & Dad, I was diagnosed with General Anxiety Dirsorder and I want to work on overcoming it. Here’s some information about it so that we all know what we’re dealing with.”
