there is a way to do it without pills, identify what causes your panic attacks and learn to avoid those things (if possible).

for me it is just avoiding stress (not always possible of course), but i just try to keep as positive an attitude as i can about everything and avoid worrying about insignificant stuff; this seems to work most of the time.

i’ve been having panic attacks sine i was a teenager. from my experience it wasn’t usually the setting that induced the attack, most often it is things that are on my mind and in one case it was from the pain of a physical injury. but i then again i’m sure they can be induced by all sorts of things in different people, so yours might be different.

hope this helped, panic attacks suck.

i smoke weed and also suffer from panic attacks occasionally

obviously lighting a joint right as the symptoms are at their worst doesn’t make sense, but afterwards i can help you relax a little

Yesterday I got an panic attack on the train. My dad had my wallet, phone and money and I jumped off the next stop. So there I was…alone, miles away from my family just because I didn’t think I was gonna make it home :( anxiety is creeping upon my life.

well i have a panic disorder i have at least 30 to 40 a day and it totally y controls my life, its horrible and you can never get used to them, but when people talk to me it makes it worse i need silence to focus on my attack.

  • jimg78 said:

(cont) its so refreshing to hear other people talking who really understand how it feels.all i can say is hold on in there folks and be strong. dont let the PAs get in ur way or get you down. I hate peolpe telling me this but at the end of the day its the most positive way of dealing with them.

This is all really interesting to hear other peoples panic attacks. Im 31 now and have been having attacks since i was 27. During my first attack I honestly thought it was the end. Even telling people there to tell my family and friends that i love them and all that. It messed my life up completley. i started drinking way to much and cos of that getting in trouble.done 5 weeks in prison for it.Hate people who say they always get them when you know they dont. You just have to deal with it.

I have panic attacks but soetimes they feel like alot more then this, im having one just now writing this trying to relax and it is a very scary thing very confusing ive been dealing with them for almost 16 years now, it has messed up alot of my life, even sometimes could not go outside, I only wish i knew of a way to never have one ever again and not be scared what if another will happen, I will not take a pill, there must be a way without having to do this without pills, only i wish i knew

@TheDfi3 i totally understand how it feels , i have the same symptons almost every night , i feel like i cant breathe , and cant think , just oh no i die i die i die , but actually i just KNOW that im not dying because then i would be dead already , and i just keep pushing myself towards that thought that i cant be dying for hours ( because usually i have panic attacks for 1-2 hours then i calm down) , so what i cant recommend is , to try and think about something else, go read or play something

  • UncorkedNut said:

theDfi3 I’m 14 and suffer from the same thing. Try therapy and DON’T be scared You can manage it! If I can do it u can

  • tammas2000 said:

@Stormcat1 I agree with what you say about having someone there, but they have to have real empathy and a calm voice for you. That way you calm down. But you’re so right about the isolated, alone feelings.

  • tammas2000 said:

@tammas2000 After you have been calmed by some gentle, calm words, you may be receptive to physical contact. Say your wife’s having an attack, maybe get her to sit one the floor on a cushion and stroke her hair, something relaxing like that can help. Sometimes.
Panic attacks are so wearing that, if you’ve been suffering one for a while, it’s like having done a day’s work as a labourer.
You get very tired, very tired; and that’s usually your respite.

  • tammas2000 said:

This guy is reading from a text book or has heard some other pseudo-techniques about panic attacks.
The last thing some people want is contact when they have panic attacks.
Someone pawing over you only increases the claustrophobic effects you already have. You do need someone else there who can help you, but NOT with physical contact, at first anyway.
You need them to talk so calmly that you can’t help but be calmed. That works.

    Hi Ben,

While I’m sure your suggestions will help somewhat, my recommendation is to tell everyone about Emotional Freedom Technique, EFT, which will actually ELIMINATE Panic Attacks on the spot. I’ve done it many times and its has never failed. I’m glad you’re making some suggestions to people, but EFT will take care of it all in my experience. Thanks.
