How to get over the fear of thunder and lightning storms?

Hi am almost 16 and I have a fear of thunder and lightning storms and I have tried everything and it seems like it is getting worse can anybody help me. I get the shakes and start crying and heart rate goes skies rockets. Also I don’t want to go to any docters all they do is put me on meds.

    @michelle_h43 The last tornado(s) South Carolina had was actually in 2009

    To be honest, if I was scared of all that, I’d just force myself to watch the lightning and listen to the thunder w/o getting scared. Remind myself that it is nothing. But that’s just me. i love bad weather.

    and download/listen to the sound of rain/thunderstorms they are many videos of that.
    it could help you over come the fear and began to like the sound of rain/thunder.

    another thing to do is watch videos/ go outside and watch a storm. just be careful.

    here’s something else that you might like to hear.
    i live in south carolina and were a state that does get thunderstorms
    not very often… and we are the state that has the less chance of getting tornadoes..
    the last tornado we got was around… uhh 1995 i think.
    just make sure you don’t live near the bottom of the state
    the higher up you go into the state the more safe it is.
