Kit-Kat asked:
Okay. So whenever somebody talks about something gross or disgusting, or if i see something, i start to feel dizzy as if i am going to pass out. I never have passed out, but i have came very close. I know that this fear is very irrational and i really want to learn how to get over it, since i am considering a career in the medical field. What techniques can i use to help me get through these panic attacks or to help me not freak out in the first place?

Tough question. It calls for classical de-conditioning, or actually conditioning, to have neutral or positive thoughts, as opposed to negative response. See a guidance counselor or therapist.
Personally, I stretch and take deep breaths (kinda like yoga) when I have panic attacks and it helps! Also, soothing smells such as Eucalyptus.
Breath deeply until you calm down. When you are not in the situation, practice asking yourself why these things bother you. Try to figure out why you have this irrational fear.
Then, the next time it happens, remember why you are getting upset and stay calm.
If this doesn’t help, research EFT- Emotional Freedom Therapy or seek help from a professional.
You are on the right path- knowing it is irrational and knowing its an issue is a good start. Keep up the good work
OMG I completely understand what you’re feeling! I have panic attacks frequently & they are very scary. They seem to come out of nowhere & seem so real like you are going to lose your mind, faint, cry & throw up all at the same time. It is awful. I do know that you have to train your brain to think positive thought but that is really hard. My friend at work gave me a program to use call Attacking Anxiety & Depression from the Midwest Center. She says it made hers go away. I have already started on it & it seems like it is really going to help me. That’s the only thing I knows to do is try a program or go to your doctor & see if they can give you any kind of medicine. But for me it wouldn’t help because for some reason I am really scared of taking medicine. I would try the program though if you think it would help you. You can probably find it on Ebay for cheap. I’m sorry I don’t have any other answers, I’m still looking for them myself. I wish the best of luck to you though, they can be very intimidating, I wouldn’t wish them on my worse enemy. May God bless you!
Try doing Byron Katie’s “The Work” – this is fantastic – I can’t recommend her highly enough – she has a website with free worksheets or look her up on youtube.
