Beautiful asked:
I have Anxiety Attacks all the time. And I am only 13. I never go to the doctor because i dont want to be put on medication. When i have one i dont do anything, i just tell myself to get over it, and keep doing what i am doing. It doesnt help most of the time, but its what i do. Could I be making it worse? Or am I helping it?

If they continue, you really should get help.
You won’t necessarily be put on medication. You might be able just to get therapy.
But, anxiety attacks are debilitating. I know that personally.
And getting help would be nothing to be ashamed of.
Poor you, that’s a horrible thing to have to deal with. You know, if you go to your doctor, he or she won’t necessarily put you on medication. They’re more likely to use other methods first, like sending you to see a counsellor to talk over what’s causing the anxiety attacks, and teaching you methods to deal with them.
Sometimes, if you feel anxious, it helps to take a couple of minutes out from the situation you’re in. Go and sit on the toilet or somewhere you won’t be interrupted, take some deep, slow breaths and think about something that calms you – a happy memory or a person who makes you feel safe.
If you really don’t want to go to the doctor, there are other people you could ask for help. Try a teacher who you trust, or a school nurse or counsellor if you have one, or talk to your parents if you feel you can. You don’t have to go through this alone.
