Is it safe to smoke if you have Panic Attacks?

Ok, so a couple of months ago I took some mushrooms and had a horrible trip. A few weeks later, I smoked some weed which brought it on again. Ever since then I’ve had these awful panic attacks almost everyday. Since I can’t smoke weed, drink, or basically do anything, I was wondering if I could still smoke cigarettes? I use to smoke alot, but I havnt had a single one since the panic started. I had heard that it makes the attacks worse, is that true? And if so, will I ever be able to smoke or drink again?

U can smoke cigarrettes. They might calm u down. But, get to the root of the panic attack, the shrooms just brought it out, it didnt cause it… I would hold off on any drugs until you get the panic feeling away. Ask your doc for anxiety meds. Anxiety SUCKS. believe me i know!
    Good Luck

I think anything that effects your lung capacity is probably a bad idea when you have panic attacks.
I wouldn’t recommend smoking or drinking if it triggers your panic attacks. I don’t think anything that you can become dependent on, it won’t help you if you rely on cigarettes to calm you down. You need to focus on dealing with what is causing your anxiety.

Smokeing raises you’r heart rate so does caffiene & chocolate. What you are haveing is panic attacks which is caused by a chemical imbalance. There is medication for it . Ask you’r Dr. When I used to get them I would tell myself FEAR –F=face E=everything A=and R= recover.Tell yourself that you are in control of your thoughts and you refuse to feel this way anymore. You use to be normal before this started and you will be normal again.I do a puzzle book which helps to keep my mind busy and after a few minutes I feel relaxed. Or get into reading , anything to change your thought pattern. You will get better.

Smoking has been PROVEN by medical tests to actually increase anxiety because they cause a constant withdrawal from the most addictive drug known to man, nicotene. Allen Carr wrote a great book on the easy way to quit smoking and drugs are not your answer.
The answer is your thought life and how you feel about yourself, your thought patterns and such.
I wish you the best. Think about what you have, not what you dont have, find the good in life instead of the bad, live life to the best you can and do not make excuses for your negative downward spiraling thinking and you will be much better for it,
    This is what I do,

almost same thing happened to me about 5 years back, when i had a bad mix of weed and uppers (i take propranolol for the panic attacks every day still which is an improvement but i still have the condition). No drinking if your on a prescription and also i’ve noticed when i tried to drink (when the condition was new and i was still figuring it out) that the feeling of being drunk can cause really really bad panic attacks. the truth is,yes, cigs are bad and the doctors say they make the panic attacks worse, thats true.you can smoke,it won’t be your complete undoing with this condition but try not to smoke when your having an attack as it will make it worse, also never let them put you on sedatives (like clonopin or xanex) for the panic attacks as i swear you will regret it (i did,it really F*cked up everything in my life for like 3 years) stick to a group called “Beta-Blockers” its a newer way to treat our condition and it’s the best way to go if you choose to take a prescription but also consider reading up on bio-feedback,yoga,healthy diet and whatnot to help the condition.best thing to avoid in every day life is caffeine!!!!!!! hope this helped ^-^

I don’t know what effect it will have but I do know that teenagers who smoke have been found to have a higher risk of panic attacks, so it may not be the right drug for you.

I wouldn’t expect drinking to do anything, but again, I’m not sure.

Guess the only thing to do is try them and see what happens . . .
