The commonest medications prescribed for panic attack produce sedation which is a feeling of drowsiness. Its part of a class of drugs that are used to treat depression. However since panic attacks are intimately connected to faulty thinking and unhelpful behaviours it is important to understand that there is no one true panic attack medication that can be 100% effective.

In order for an individual to achieve relief from panic attacks it is important to seek medical attention. Once this is received a referral will probably be made to a specialist that can handle panic attacks effectively. This treatment may include a fine mixture of behavior therapy counseling and drug treatment. The determination will be based on the severity of the panic attacks and how these attacks hinder the life of the sufferer.

It is important to understand that every single panic attack results in physiological responses in the body. While these responses may be extremely uncomfortable it is the bodies way of protecting itself from a fearful situation.
