Patient Anxiety
What do I need to do to get medicine for anxiety and depression.?

My health coverage is medicare and I currently do not have any doctor. I looked at the community mental health services web site and they seemed to offer out patient counseling or inpatient services for medication perhaps. I do not want to be admitted anywhere nor do I think counseling will do much good but I would be open to it if it was in conjunction with getting some medicines. So I would like to get something to take for anxiety and depression. How do I do this?

Depression IS treatable. Its important that you go to your own doctor and explain just what is going on. He/She will probably start you out on some meds and refer you to some one you can see that deals with depression on a regular basis. I have PTSD and take lexapro daily. PTSD can be treated with meds but some times I have to go to a counselor just for feedback (2 heads are better than one) . Counselors have the training and insight to help us see clearly. You DO NOT have to be admitted anywhere, they will do it on an out patient basis. Best of luck and God bless. Great grandmother of 2
